Community Profile

This is a multifandom icon challenge community, where the idea is to make one hundred icons in one hundred different fandoms. To inspire and frustrate you, you also get one hundred prompts to fill at the same time.

Rules and Instructions

1) Sign up HERE!

2) Copy the code for the prompt table FROM HERE and put it in your journal.

3) Start iconing and filling in the table with the icons you made. List the fandoms you used so we can easily count how many there are.

4) As you reach the halfway point and/or complete your card, you can link your table in the community, if you'd like. If you'd rather just keep your card to yourself, that's fine as well. When you post to the community, please use the appropriate tags and put the table under a cut with no more than 3 icons as a preview. You can of course keep the table in your journal and only link to it, as well.


Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Which table do I use?

We create a new prompt table every year, to keep the challenge fresh for all participants. All participants are assigned the newest table available at the point of signing up. If you want to choose another, let me know during signup. You can also sign up for the following year's table in December. If you've already filled the current table, you can do the challenge again with an older table (or the same table).

Q: Is there a time limit?

A: Yes. The fic challenge did/does not have a time limit, but iconmakers have a distinct advantage over writers: they don't have to know a fandom to icon it - all you need is a screencap. So, there is a time limit. You can choose one of these:

6 months
12 months
18 months
24 months

You can choose your starting point arbitrarily. I.e. it can also be in the past. Your chosen starting and end point will be recorded in the sign-up table. Choose a limit that you personally find challenging and motivating.

Q: Can I count icons made for other challenges?

A: Yes you can! This is unusual for icon challenges, but this comm is the exception to the rule. :) The only restriction is that the icons must have been made between the start and end time you chose.

Q: Do the icons really all have to be from different fandoms?

A: Yes, absolutely. (See question below for details on crossovers.)

Q: Can I use icons that I've made before to fill in part of the table?

A: Yes. Any icons you make within your chosen time limit are eligible, whether you make them for yourself or for other icon challenges. You can also choose your timeframe to be partly in the past - e.g. if your limit is 12 months, and it's already February, you can still choose January to December, and all icons you make/have already made in that year count.

Q: What constitutes a 'fandom' for the purposes of this community? I mean, can we count Sharknado, Sharknado 2: The Second One, Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!, Sharknado: The 4th Awakens, Sharknado 5: Global Swarming and The Last Sharknado: It's About Time as six different fandoms?

A: Probably not, but you do you. :D In other words, you know your fandoms a lot better than we do, so you make the call. There's really no point to 'fudging' this challenge else why undertake it in the first place?

This is the most common question in the fic challenge, and we'll just adopt the same stance: it is up to you what you count as a fandom. The choice is yours. Remember that you have to list the fandoms you used, so do it in a way you personally feel good about your choice.

Q: How about crossovers?

A: You are welcome to make icons that contain more than one fandom. Conceivably you could get to one hundred after only fifty icons that way, but you still have to make an icon for each prompt to complete the challenge. So choose one fandom for which to count this icon and feel free to make another icon for the other fandom. You don't need to make icons in more than one hundred different fandoms.
